PRACTISING DENTISTS
Dr Eben Lourens (BChD Stellenbosch) studied dentistry in South Africa.
He owned a dental practice and lived in Cape Town before moving to Launceston with his wife and children in 2009. After working privately for 3 years, he felt the time was right to open a practice in beautiful Legana. Eben enjoys all aspects of general dentistry but has a special interest in root canal treatment and aesthetic dentistry. The best part of his work is meeting new and interesting people while being of service.
He is an enthusiastic fisherman and enjoys spending time on the water. Sport interests includes virtually anything associated with a ball.
Theo Nel (BChD Stellenbosch) graduated at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, in 2002.
During 2011, Dr Nel and his family decided to emigrate to Australia. Theo sold his practice and moved to beautiful Tasmania where he worked in the public and private sector in Launceston until the decision was made to open a new practice in Legana in 2016.
Theo is practicing at Legana Dental on a full-time basis and enjoys all aspects of general dentistry.
In his free time, Theo enjoys gardening, landscaping, and exploring Tasmania with his family.
Dr Pranesh Sadhabiriss was born and raised in South Africa.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Dentistry from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa in 2001. He worked in community health services and then practiced in private practice, spending 8 years in his own private practice in Durban, South Africa. He has also completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Auditing.
In 2011, Pranesh and his family relocated to Tasmania. He currently works at our practice every second Saturday and operates weekdays at Oral Health Services.
Pranesh enjoys watching movies and reading mystery novels. He is a keen follower of international cricket and soccer.
Pranesh has completed additional studies in the form of a post graduate diploma in aesthetic orthodontics, focusing on using aligners such as Invisalign to straighten teeth and enhance smiles. He is therefore able to help his patients achieve their desired smile from a position of specialised knowledge.
Hybré Nel (BChD Stellenbosch) graduated from Stellenbosch University, South Africa, in 2006. She and her husband, Theo, sold their practice and moved to Tasmania in 2011 to work for Oral Health Services Tasmania.
Hybré has been working at Legana Dental on a part-time basis since 2021.
She loves all aspects of general dentistry and is passionate about her profession.
In her free time, she loves to be outdoors with her family and enjoys mountain biking, kayaking, and braving the cold for a run. She also likes to dabble in permaculture and grows most of her family's veggies and fruit.
